Little Star

Written by John Ajvide Lindqvist

Overall Impression: Liked it! Lindqvist is a Swedish master of horror. Unrelenting. Unapologetic. And there was a scene I had to skim over because it was too much for me to read. Yeah, he’s that good. An incredibly disturbing book.

How to Be Single

Written by Liz Trucillo

Overall Impression: It was okay. Absolutely nothing like the movie (which I enjoyed), and I couldn’t relate with any of the main characters. And maybe it’s because I just finished the Gilmore Girls reboot, but I’m really over any attempt to make the other woman character cute or empathetic.

Rat Queens Volume 1: Sass and Sorcery

Written by Kurtis J. Wiebe
Art by Roc Upchurch and Fiona Staples

Overall Impression: Loved it! My favorite comic of the year. Plenty of ass kicking female characters, great humor, incredible writing, gorgeous art, and tons of adventure. I can’t get enough!

Overall Impression: Loved it! Perfect parts over-the-top gore and sweet romance. Funny, touching, and graphic.
